About Our Project

A tribute by artist Ron Head. A reminder that your guardian angel travels with you; a comforting symbol of faith for the firefighter.
The sculpture, Courage and Faith, has truly captured the strength and poignancy of the moment between a man, a hero and his steps with courage and faith during a fire or rescue mission. Anyone who has worn turnout gear will be able to feel the weight of it, the sense of the cloth in the bronze and understand the symbolism that it represents: the firefighters guardian angel goes with him and protects him.
Artist Ron Head and retired firefighters King Monaghan and Sheree Lincoln have joined together to help place the sculpture in fire departments all over the United States and eventually around the world.
Sculptor, Ron Head originally from Fremont, Michigan now living in Phoenix, Arizona created this sculpture in the 3 days after September 11th, 2001 to honor the firefighters bravery and courage demonstrated and the lives lost in the days of 9-11 at Ground Zero.
Retired Career Firefighter, King Monaghan, of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Fire Department has embraced this tribute to a fallen firefighter. As a member of the brotherhood he feels the loss of each man or woman lost during 9-11 and every other fire-rescue. It is his goal to help ease the pain felt by the families and fellow firefighters by providing comfort and peace to their department through placement of this sculpture. King has sent a letter of condolence to hundreds of fire departments and families of fallen firefighters as part of his mission.
Volunteer Firefighter and former EMT, Sheree Lincoln, who retired from the White Cloud, Michigan Fire Department after back surgery has embraced this project as a way to stay involved with supporting the Firefighter Brotherhood everywhere. Sheree also worked in the financial world on Wall Street before moving back to Michigan in 1985. Her daily commute would take her right through the World Trade Center. The symbolism of the firefighter sculpture and the faith it represents speaks to her and it is an honor to be able to share the message.
